A Comparison of Different Side Information Generation Methods for Multiview Distributed Video Coding
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper presents a comparison of the performance of different side information generation methods for multiview distributed video coding scenarios. Existing literature on this topic relies on pure temporal interpolation (by means of motion compensation), pure inter-camera interpolation (by means of disparity compensation) or a combination of both. In this work a different approach is used by calculating the motion vectors on an available conventionally-encoded camera (one that is not encoded using distributed principles) and then using the obtained motion vectors to generate the side information for the camera that requires it. Variations of this technique are also presented, along with a mechanism to merge all of them together. Finally, simulation results comparing with other techniques and conclusions are given.

Novel solutions for side information generation and fusion in multiview DVC
One of the key problems in distributed video coding is the generation of side information. This task consists of producing an estimate of an image with some neighboring ones, such as those taken by the same camera at different time instants, or, in the case of multiview setups, images taken at the same time instant by different cameras. If both estimates are available, a further problem arises,...
متن کاملSubgraphs Matching-Based Side Information Generation for Distributed Multiview Video Coding
We adopt constrained relaxation for distributed multiview video coding (DMVC). The novel framework integrates the graphbased segmentation and matching to generate interview correlated side information without knowing the camera parameters, inspired by subgraph semantics and sparse decomposition of high-dimensional scale invariant feature data. The sparse data as a good hypothesis space aim for ...
متن کاملIterative Multiview Side Information for Enhanced Reconstruction in Distributed Video Coding
Distributed video coding (DVC) is a new paradigm for video compression based on the information theoretical results of Slepian and Wolf (SW) and Wyner and Ziv (WZ). DVC entails low-complexity encoders as well as separate encoding of correlated video sources. This is particularly attractive for multiview camera systems in video surveillance and camera sensor network applications, where low compl...

Distributed Video Coding (DVC) is a new paradigm for video compression based on the information theoretical results of Slepian and Wolf (SW), and Wyner and Ziv (WZ). While conventional coding has a rigid complexity allocation as most of the complex tasks are performed at the encoder side, DVC enables a flexible complexity allocation between the encoder and the decoder. The most novel and intere...

In DMVC, we have more than one options of sources available for construction of side information. The newer techniques make use of both the techniques simultaneously by constructing a bitmask that determines the source of every block or pixel of the side information. A lot of computation is done to determine each bit in the bitmask. In this paper, we have tried to define areas that can only be ...
